Subject: April 24 Update
From: Kenneth Katch

April 2024
I'm back from California's central coast to a cold windy Illinois welcome.  I can certainly see how the weather and roads created California Car Culture.  But spring is bursting out everywhere here and the urge to get those cats out and drive is awake!  Our next event May 4 is a great opportunity to go for a pleasant Saturday morning drive, learn a little history, and join the IJC members for lunch and conversation.  So be sure to sign up Register now! and get that Jag ready to go.

Our last event, the visit to the Grove, was well attended and the participants enjoyed the insight into the history of the area and of course, a great lunch at the Crab House.  The club is striving to provide a monthly event that appeals to a variety of interests and will bring out the Jaguars and their caretakers.  We have a very fun drive to the Woodstock Opera House planned for June and quite a few members are planning to attend the Champagne British Car Festival in Bloomington at the end of May.  Please mark your calendars and join us.

This month we welcome new members from around the state:

Jacob Cavanaugh from Sycamore, Michael and Bonnie Kaufman from Chicago, Steven and Debra Morgen from Burr Ridge, and Debra Powless and Joseph Bortz from Highland Park.

Please introduce yourself and welcome them at our events.

I'm off to spend some quality time in the garage.  Hope to see all of you at an event soon,

Ken

Lunch at the Shanty

Dennis Smith has planned a scenic drive to the Museum and Mike Smith has picked an exciting restaurant for lunch.  So let's get those cats out to play on a Spring morning!  See you there.

The Grove
On April 6, 11 hardy members of IJC visited The Grove in Glenview.  In 1973 a group of ladies banded together to save the prairie and home of Dr. John Kennicott.  Today the Grove is 150 acres of ecologically diverse prairie that includes the Kennicott House and the Redfield Estate.  Our members enjoyed a very informative tour and then a delicious lunch at Bob Chinn's Crab House.
