November 23 Update

November 2023
Well, I just tucked the MK IX into her bubble at the lake. I guess this fun driving season is coming to a close. But not the club gathering season which will continue with our Holiday Party at Balmoral on December 3.

It certainly has been a fun event season for the club. We had 10 IJC events with 46 members and 29 guests participating in at least one. That is a wonderful turnout but it means we had 70 members that we did not get to spend time with this year. We are having a Board meeting November 18 to plan 2024. Please help us by letting a Board member know what kind of an event would bring you and your Jaguar out next year. Or better yet, come to the meeting and tell us-and maybe volunteer to help make it happen.
We are welcoming our newest member John Saraceno from Westchester and his 2012 XK. That prompts me to remind you that membership renewal reminders for 2024 will be going out December 1.
We are going to try something different for the Holiday Party this year-holding it before all you snowbirds escape!Mark your calendars for a December 3 party at Balmoral you don't want to miss it.Register nowThis is a limited capacity event so don’t delay your registration.
I’m heading south to the Grey Cat Garage soon to tuck the rest of the cats away for the winter (after a little fettling of course). And then maybe uncover this alien mini object that’s been hiding in the corner for next season.
Have a wonderful holiday season. Until next year,
Ken

Holiday Party
December 3

We had a blustery fall day for our Fall Drive to Springfield. Wise heads bailed on the outdoor picnic and we shared lunch with low flying sharks at a tiki bar named after a dog named Charlie. Then continued along the river and on to Springfield’s Dana Thomas house. For something different we drew a social historian as a docent and heard more about the woman and her social impact instead of a focus on the architecture. We ended our day by fortifying ourselves with steak and libations.
on Sunday we visited the updated Lincoln museum which now has more focus on the significant women and society of the time. We broke for lunch and then freeformed the afternoon tours before gathering for seafood. We were joined by several local Jaguar owners and potential club members.
The club ended October with a visit to the Fox River Trolley museum where we took a ride on a restored trolley car and learned the history of that line which even included freight service. It was a grey blustery day but thankfully the trolley was warm (especially if you picked the seat over the heater!).After our ride we drove to the Filling Station in St. Charles for food and conversation. Thank you Mike Smith for putting all of these day events together this year.
