Finally a break from all this sunny weather so I can get back to my computer. :( I think my brain is back in the correct time zone after trips to Japan and Ohio but we'll see.It is May and we are about to start the busy Jaguar driving season. For those of you who are itching to go, there are a great number of events in the next few months.
Our Poets, Presidents and Motorcycles spring drive is May 20 but you must sign up this weekend. It promises to be better weather than our very successful drive to the Historic Auto Attraction. This is your last chance to visit the National Motorcycle Museum as they are having a big auction this fall and then closing.
Next up is the Champagne British Car Festival in Bloomington June 2-4.It includes a drive on Saturday, a banquet Saturday night with guest speaker John Twist of MGB tuning fame, and the show Sunday with 150+ cars on the beautiful grounds of the David Davis mansion.Come for the weekend or just the show but sign up soon for preregistration pricing.
If you are just looking for a day drive we have a drive June 10 that will offer scenic roads and a nice historic stop.It is a perfect event for some of our new and less active members to get out and meet everyone.See the event calendar for details.
Let's welcome Sharon Lentz Buell to the club.Sharon and Kevin are from Iowa City making them our most westerly members.
I have some very special news about our Concours. Our guest speaker for the banquet will be the author, racer, and sports car personality, Burt Levy.Burt has been a racer and auto journalist for many years. He is the author of the Last Open Road series of books and was recently inducted into the British Sports Car Hall of Fame.I've had the pleasure of judging with Burt at the Concours in downtown Elkhart Lake during the July vintage races for the last 8 years and will attest he is a knowledgeable and entertaining rascal.Plan to attend the Concours and banquet even if you are not showing a car.
If you happen to be in the market for a 99 XJ8 VDP there is one in our for sale section at an attractive price.
Lots of information but that's what happens when the monthly update comes out mid month.Be sure to check the event calendar and make your Jaguar touring plans for the summer. I hope to meet many first time participants at events this summer.
Let's get out and drive those big cats,
Ken
