Plan to spend Friday and Saturday nights, or just Saturday night at The Chateau Hotel in Bloomington, IL. It is the host hotel for the Champagne British Car Festival on Sunday, May 31st. Saturday, May 30th
We will leave The Chateau Hotel at 8:30am for a 90-minute drive to Arthur, IL. Shopping the adjacent Vine Street merchants for an hour or more will be a treat as several of the stores have fine products from the local Amish craftsmen. Then enjoy a home cooked lunch at an Amish farm home nestled in the Arthur countryside. A typical meal includes homemade bread, salad, fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, noodles or dressing, vegetables, pie, and a drink. After the Amish Farm Meal, we will tour a working Amish buggy shop.
Then back to the hotel, and plan to attend a sit-down banquet will be held in the renovated Chateau Hotel and Conference Center’s ballroom. We’ll have designated parking area to display our cars and provide lots of opportunities for mixing with fellow enthusiasts before dinner. Plan to enjoy a presentation by local Route 66 experts on the cultural and historical importance of this storied highway. From kitschy roadside attractions such as Atlanta’s Giants Museum to one of Route 66’s finest examples of a 1930’s era service station.
Sunday, May 31st
The weekend culminates with the Champagne British Car Show on beautiful Clover Lawn of David Davis Mansion, Bloomington, IL. The David Davis Mansion provides a wonderful backdrop to display over 125 British cars at this popular annual event, organized by members of the Illinois Flat Land British Car Club. The festival includes music, vendors, food and beverage options, tables and chairs to enjoy your meal and drinks.
