Our first destination will be the Carl Sandburg Historic Site in Galesburg, IL. Born in 1878 in Galesburg he became a Pulitzer Prize winning poet. We will visit his early homes in the area that he grew up in.
On Sunday we will travel to West Branch, IA to visit the Presidential Library of Herbert Hoover. Hoover was an orphan and self-made man rising from his Quaker roots in West Branch. His wife Lou was a philanthropist, geologist, and a pretty amazing woman. You will find many interesting facts about both during our visit.
We will bring our lunches to the National Motorcycle Museum. This will be one of the last opportunities to visit this museum which opened in 1989. It has over 170 different marques of motorcycles.
