I hope everyone had the cats out for some fresh air over the Memorial Day weekend.We have certainly been having some top down weather.I just had Jim and Gary replace the tires and rear springs on the 140 and oh my what a difference.It's hard to believe how gradual changes over 12 years can deteriorate the ride and handling.Which is a reminder to all of you-how old are your tires?
We have several new members to greet this month.Trevor and Liz Orthmann from Springfield,Thomas Wong and Minnie Lee from Skokie and Christopher Nordoff and Emilio Munoz from Lake Forest.Please be sure to welcome them at our next event.
The Champagne British Car Festival was a great weekend with a rally and the show.The IJC was well represented and it was great to see several of our new members participating.Even the quick shower didn't dampen the mood.Although it did dampen me as I was on the other side of the show field when it hit.Found out 75 year olds don't sprint anymore!
We are continuing with our monthly meeting and dinner series on July 1 at the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum and Gallery.It crept into July to accommodate the museum's availability'.We said we would be varying the location throughout the year to reach more of the geography of the club.We're going to have a pizza party and hopefully the owner will be there to give us a tour of these Eastern European bikes that I'm sure most of you have never heard of.Be sure to register hereRegister
There is still time to register (but hurry!) for the drive to Galena on June 20.Glenn has great roads planned along with a tour of Galena's unique history.And don't let our Concours on July 25 sneak up on you.Registration is open now and you'll want time to get the polishing cloths, wheel cleaners and skewers out to get that Jag show ready.
Most importantly, take a look at our event calendarEventsand make a plan to attend several events this year.Summer slips away quickly and you don't want to suddenly realize you haven't taken that great Jaguar out for fun.
I hope to see many of you at the Scottish Highland Games on Saturday.I'll have the MK2 (fingers crossed) and if I'm not at the car look in the whisky tasting tent.:)

Our IJC Monthly Dinner Gathering will change locations this month.We will gather at the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum and Art Gallery for a pizza party.This museum has a fascinating collection of Eastern European motorcycles that are part of a unique collection.It also has some amazing art and a great bar.So join other members for a memorable evening.

A wonderful drive through the backroads of NW Illinois

The Illinois Jaguar Club invites members and guests to join a scenic drive through the back roads of northwest Illinois with a Galena area visit, lunch at Chestnut Mountain, and time to explore local attractions. This is a relaxed, social event designed for enjoyable driving, sightseeing, and spending time in one of Illinois’ most charming areas. You must Register by Monday, June 15th so reservations for the tour and lunch can be finalized.

Champagne British Car Festival

It was a fun weekend at the CBCF in Bloomington.The rally on Saturday took us on some nice roads in the Lake Bloomington and Route 66 area.The rally questions were challenging and had us perusing antique stores and Route 66 quirkiness to find answers.Lunch in Lexington was very good and the boat museum had us talking about the earlycreativity of fiberglass boats.We were back in plenty of time to get ready for the banquet with a speaker from Atlanta, IL who showed us the Giants Museum on Route 66.These are the 20 foot tall fiberglass figures from gas stations and restaurants that advertised on Route 66.
The show grounds were full of unique cars and we had 8 club Jaguars participating.A quick rain didn't deter any one and many of our members took home awards.
