June 2024
We just finished a very pleasant weekend at the Champagne British Car Festival in Bloomington. The rally was damp but great fun and the rare boat museum a treat. There was a very nice turnout of 7 IJC member Jaguars at the show and all went home with trophies!Next year Jaguar will be the featured marque so mark your calendars for the first weekend after Memorial Day.
Our next event June 15is a great opportunity to go for a pleasant Saturday morning drive, tour the Woodstock Opera House, and join the IJC members for lunch and conversation. You might remember the Opera House from the movie Groundhog Day.So be sure to sign upRegister nowand get that Jag ready to go.
If you're not up for a drive you might find the British car show at the Scottish Highland Games fun. There are always bagpipes, clan parades, heavy games, dancers, and whisky!New location this year at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.Details on our website.
Our last event, the visit to the Russel Military Museum, was well attended and the participants enjoyed the insight into the machines of war and of course, a great lunch at the Shanty. The club is striving to provide a monthly event that appeals to a variety of interests and will bring out the Jaguars and their caretakers. We have a very fun drive to the Woodstock Opera House planned for June and quite a few members are planning to attend the Mad Dogs and Englishmen Rally and British Car show at the Gilmore Museum in July.Important-there is secure parking available at the Mad Dogs hotel, you must register by June 27 to secure it.Please mark your calendars and join us.
Our biggest summer event, the IJC Concours de'Elegance is August 10 so circle the date and start polishing!
This month we welcome new members from around the state:
Thomas Furie from Wheaton, Ken and Mary Wolowice from Loves Park, and James Ackleson and Karen Larson from Genoa.
Please introduce yourself and welcome them at our events.
We are once again partnering with Drive Toward a Cure for Parkinsons as our club charity.Their 75 Days of Summer drive starts Father's Day so please sign up and raise some funds for that important cause.

On June 1 & 2 a nice turnout of club members attended the Champagne British Car Festival in Bloomington, IL.The Illinois Flatland British Car Club put together a fun rally on Saturday that concluded with a visit to a rare boat museum. The rain only slightly diminished the fun as evidenced by the young man on a motorcycle who took second! The boats were from the days of tail fins and most were one of only a few manufactured of that type.
On Sunday the show was on the grounds of the beautiful David Davis mansion. There was a very good turnout of Jaguars and all of the IJC members who participated took home a trophy.
